96th Minute Golden Goal Lifts Lubbock Christian Past the #23 Buffs, 2-1

CANYON, Texas – Lubbock Christian completed the regular-season sweep of the #23 Buffaloes as a 96th minute golden goal in overtime on Thursday night in Heartland Conference action at The Pitch in Canyon to snap WT's five match win streak.

The Chaps got on the board first in the 59th minute as Armand Kouakou took advantage of a WT turnover right in front of the goal for his second score of the season to make it 1-0. The Buffs tie it up in the 80 minute as Stefan Andjelic send a great cross pass in the box from 20 yards out and Julio Vargas finished with a header for his ninth goal of the season at 1-1.
 
The Chaps scored the golden goal as the clock hit the 96th minute as Marcelo Pacheco found Conner Dean in the box as the sophomore bounced a shot off the left post and into the back of the net for the thrilling 2-1 win. Alexander Vencel picked up the loss in goal for the Buffs, allowing two goals on eight shots with two saves on the night.

The Buffs return to Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they host the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico starting at 1 p.m. at The Pitch in Canyon.
