Lady Buffs Battle Back but Fall in Five Sets to Texas A&M-Kingsville

CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M battles back from an 0-2 deficit to force a fifth and deciding fifth set before falling to the visiting Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon.

The Lady Buffs registered 53 kills on 163 attempts with 22 errors to hit .190 with 50 assists, three service aces, 66 digs and 13 blocks. WT was led offensively by Lindsey Smith and Selena Batiste with 11 kills, Batiste dished out 26 assists for a double-double followed by Gabby Emery with 19 while Chandler Vogel led the way with 20 digs. Destiny Jones had a big afternoon at the net with four solo blocks to tie for eighth in program history in a single-game.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville finished the match with 64 kills on 174 swings with 36 attack errors to hit .161 as a team with 61 assists, nine aces, 73 digs and nine blocks in the win. The Javelinas were led by Madison Brabham with 24 kills on 43 swings with eight attack errors to hit .372 on the afternoon, Emily North dished out 32 assists while Alexa Ruiz led the way with 18 digs on the afternoon.

The Lady Buffs step outside of Lone Star Conference play for the final time this season on Tuesday night as they make the short trip to Lubbock, Texas to take on the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian with first serve set for 7 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center.
