#15 West Texas A&M Powers Past UT Permian Basin on Senior Night, 7-0

CANYON, Texas – The #15 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M scored four goals in the first half and never looked back as they rolled past the visiting Falcons of UT Permian Basin on Thursday night in Heartland Conference action on Senior Night at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas.

The Buffs got on the board in the 17th minute as Julio Vargas found Lucca Lima on a cross in front of the net as the freshman finished from five yards out for the early 1-0 lead. WT added to their lead in the 25th minute as Reece Schattle made the most of Senior Night as the Plano native connected on a laser from 15 yards out to the top left corner of the net to make it 2-0.
 
Julio Vargas continued to impress as the senior registered his 13th goal of the season in the 29th minute on a header from four yards out off a free kick from Lima and a Schattle touch pass, Lima registered his ninth goal of the season in the 38th minute with a one-on-one from five yards out to run the lead to 4-0.
 
Ivan Ulloa added to the WT lead in the 66th minute as the senior capped off a penalty kick to run the lead to 5-0. WT wasn't done yet as Liam Doyle connected from 30 yards out in the 72nd minute to make it 6-0. Julio Hernandez registered his first career goal in the 85th minute as he took a tip pass from Louise Gueye on a cross in the box from Jorge Callejas to connect from 10 yards out and run the score to 7-0.
 
Colin Burgiel picked up the win for the Buffs, registering three saves on five shots to move to 5-1-1 on the season for his fourth shutout.
 
UP NEXT
The Buffs return to Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon as they wrap-up the regular season on the road in Portales, New Mexico as they take on the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico starting at 1 p.m. CT.
