Kelley-Lusk’s Ninth Goal of the Season Lifts #14 Lady Buffs over Texas A&M-Commerce, 2-1

ROCKWALL, Texas – Mackenzie Taylor and Hannah Kelley-Lusk scored as #14 West Texas A&M extended its unbeaten streak to 14 games with a 2-1 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday night. Kelley-Lusk scored her fourth game-winner of the season with less than 20 minutes remaining as WT improved to 13-1-1 overall and 8-0-1 in Lone Star Conference play.

Taylor scored her second goal of the season and third of her career in the 38th minute when TAMUC committed a foul in the penalty area. The junior midfielder was called upon to take the penalty for the first time in her career and she made no mistake beating Caitlin Duty to give WT a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The Lions would equalize within the first 11 minutes of the second half on a header from a throw in. Jeorgia Carr got just enough on Lindsey McDonald's throw in to tie the game at 1-all in the 56th minute.

WT would retake the lead for good in the 73rd minute when Kelley-Lusk stole an errant pass before beating the LSC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year from 15 yards out. The sophomore has now scored six goals in her past five games giving her nine on the season.

Courtney Dippel made four saves in the game as she improved to 13-1-1 on the season. Khadidra Debesette had a season-high seven shots, four of those on-target.

WT makes the trip to Denton, Texas for their final road game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 21, against Texas Woman's. Three different Pioneers scored in their 3-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Friday.
