#14 Lady Buffs Fall to Texas Woman’s, 2-0

DENTON, Texas – #14 West Texas A&M's bid to become the first Lone Star Conference team to go unbeaten in league play since 2011 came to end on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to Texas Woman's at Pioneer Soccer Park. The Lady Buffs were held to a season low seven shot attempts, as their program-best 14-game unbeaten streak was broken.

After a scoreless first half, WT fell behind 1-0 in the 55th minute when Libby Murphy got on the end of Kaylee Rekieta's cross inside the 6-yard box. The Pioneers would score again in the 77th minute to double their advantage on Haley Ward's.
 
After having only two shots on-goal through the first 79 minutes of play, the Lady Buffs put three shots on-target in the final 11 minutes of play but were unable to beat TWU's Jazmine Maxwell as they were shutout for just the second time this season.
 
Courtney Dippel made two saves in the loss while Khadidra Debesette recorded a team-high two shots.
 
UP NEXT
WT returns home for the final two games of the regular season when they host Angelo State (Oct. 26) and UT Permian Basin (Oct. 28).
