THE BASICS:

Location: Lubbock, Texas (Frenship High School)

The Lead: West Texas A&M scored 1:31 into the contest as it posted a 2-1 win at Lubbock Christian in Heartland Conference play Thursday evening. Junior Troy Reeves scored off a corner kick for the quickest goal of the season by the Buffs.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Buffs scored their quickest goal of the season in a flurry of action in the first 1:37 into the game. Following a shot from LCU's Marcelo Pacheco and save from freshman Alexander Vencel just 19 seconds in. Junior Reece Schattle had a corner kick and junior headed in from inside the 18' for a 1-0 lead.
Senior Rafael Vasconcellos had a good look at 28:18, but LCU goalkeeper Parker O'Quinn was up to the task with the save.
Vasconcellos had two more chances later in the half, one went high and one was blocked.
The game was moved to Frenship High School from LCU due to rain overnight in Lubbock and unplayable conditions at LCU. The temperature was 60 degrees with light rain showers throughout the game.
In the second half, junior Callum Challinor scored his fourth goal of the season, giving WT a 2-0 lead as he took a shot from left of the 18' with an assist from freshman Stefan Andjelic.
In the 89^th minute, LCU prevented Vencel from the clean sheet as Mohammed Busaidy scored his first goal of the season on a header off a set piece with an assist from Louis Callaghan.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

WT improved to 4-2 all-time against Lubbock Christian as the teams will play again in Canyon on Oct. 19.
WT head coach Butch Lauffer won his 499^th career game between both the men's and women's programs at WT. He is 309-143-33 in his 27^th year at the helm of the Buffs.
For the game, WT had 19 shots with nine on frame, while recording nine corner kicks. The Buffs had just four fouls in the game.
Vencel made two saves in the game and allowed one goal as he improved to 5-3 on the year.
O'Quinn allowed two goals and had seven saves for the Chaps as LCU tallied nine shots with three on goal.
Challinor leads the Buffs with four goals this season.
WT takes a one game lead in the West Division standings in the Heartland Conference as both WT and LCU entered Thursday with identical 2-2 records in league play.
