Box Score

Season Stats

THE BASICS:

  • Score: West Texas A&M 1, Texas Woman's 1

  • Records: West Texas A&M 2-2-2 (0-0-1 LSC), Texas Woman's (3-2-2 (0-0-1 LSC)

  • Location: Canyon, Texas (The Pitch)

  • The Lead: A pair of goals in the first half were the only scores as the West Texas A&M women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Texas Woman's Friday evening at The Pitch in the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams.  Sophomore Mackenzie Taylor had the equalizing goal for the Lady Buffs 41:31 into the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Texas Woman's dominated the attack early and capitalized 13 minutes in as Lauren Bradford scored her first goal of the season as she received a pass from Maddi Nolton into the box beating WT junior goalkeeper Courtney Dippel for a 1-0 lead.

  • The Lady Buffs started to gain some momentum as the half went on and sophomore Mackenzie Taylor scored with a swing kick to the upper corner off an assist from sophomore Marlene van Mourik for a 1-1 score at the 41:31 mark.

  • TWU had a great look early in the second half as Alexis Lawrence hit a shot to a diving Dippel who couldn't corral it and the Lady Buff "D" was there to clear it preventing a disaster four minutes in to the half.

  • WT had a great chance with a nice pas into the box from freshman Noir Hawash to van Mourik 77 minutes in, as the ball sailed just high over the net.  Following that, WT had three great looks, but Vickroy was up to the challenge each time in a frenzy in front of the TWU net.

  • The Lady Buffs were awarded a free kick just outside the top of the box with 7:07 left in regulation.  For the kick, van Mourik took it, but it went wide left.

  • Neither team could score in the overtime, but both had chances as each keeper was up to the task.

  • Off a corner kick late in the second overtime, TWU had a great look as Bradford's header went high off the set piece.
