THE BASICS:
 

• Score: UC-Colorado Springs 2, West Texas A&M 1

 

• Records: West Texas A&M 2-1-1, UC-Colorado Springs 2-2

 

• Location: Colorado Springs, Colo. (Mountain Lion Stadium)

 

• The Lead: The West Texas A&M women's soccer team scored the first goal of the game, but a goal by UC-Colorado Springs just 1:57 later and a second half goal by the Mountain Lions was enough as the Lady Buffs dropped their first game of the season, 2-1.

 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 

• Sophomore Marlene van Mourik scored the first goal of the game at the 36:59 mark for her team-leading third goal of the season.

 

• UCCS came roaring right back as Bailee Jameson scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Tori Maydew for a 1-1 score at the 37:56 mark.

 

• The game remained 1-1 at half, but in the 66^th minute Tara Patterson scored unassisted for the go ahead goal by the Mountain Lions.

 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• UCCS dominated the shots as it outshot WT 16-5 and 6-1 in shots on goal as it marked the first time the Lady Buffs had been outshot this season.

 

• WT junior goalkeeper Courtney Dippel had four saves, but gave up two goals, which marked the most allowed by the Lady Buffs in a game this season.

 

• van Mourik scored her third goal in as many games as she now has ten for her career.

 

• UCCS improves to 2-1 all-time against WT as all three games have been played in Colorado Springs.

 
 
UP NEXT:
 

• The Lady Buffs will look to regroup quickly as they travel to Southwestern Oklahoma State for a 3 p.m. kick Thursday, Sept. 14, in Weatherford, Okla.

 

• Following that, the team will have eight days off before opening Lone Star Conference play Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. versus Texas Woman's at The Pitch.
