• Score: Northeastern State 2, West Texas A&M 1

• The Lead: A goal in front of the net as time expired from Northeastern State handed West Texas A&M a heartbreaking 2-1 road loss Sunday afternoon. 

 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 

• In a match, which saw WT dominate offensively, the Buffs were unable to find the net as NSU scored its first goal of the season as Aaron Ugbah scored 9:37 into the contest with an assist from Justin Todd.

 

• The Buffs had plenty of chances in both halves, but trailed 1-0 at intermission.

 

• In the second half, junior Callum Challinor scored his team-leading third goal of the season at the 52:23 mark as he went behind the keeper and fired on the right side of the net.

 

• The game remained 1-1 the rest of the way until the closing seconds as Dube Nyasha scored the game winner in front of freshman goalkeeper Alexander Vencel as time expired in regulation.

 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• WT outshot NSU 20-5 and 12-3 in shots on goal, but were unable to get more than one score.The Buffs also had seven corner kicks to just one for Northeastern State.

 

• Vencel had one save and faced five shots in the contest.Challinor had five shots and three on goal for the Buffs.

 

• The lone goal for the Buffs was the ninth of the season and all nine goals have come in the second half.

 
 
UP NEXT:
 

• The Buffs return home to open the 2017 Heartland Conference slate with a huge league-matchup Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at The Pitch against nationally ranked and arch-rival Midwestern State.
