Tough Defense Lifts #5 West Texas A&M Over Eastern New Mexico, 61-44

PORTALES, New Mexico – The #5 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M held the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico scoreless for almost eight minutes in the second half as WT remained unbeaten with a 61-44 win on Saturday afternoon at Greyhound Arena in Portales, New Mexico during Lone Star Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- West Texas A&M was led offensively by Madison Parker as the Canyon product went 7-of-10 from the floor including 1-of-1 from the free throw line to lead all players with 15 points to go along with five rebounds. Tiana Parker and CeCe Wooten grabbed five rebounds each while Lexy Hightower chipped in nine points.
- Mikaehla Connor led the way for the Greyhounds offensively as the senior went 3-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the charity stripe to go along with three rebounds, Shelby Jones grabbed eight rebounds to lead all players.
 
FIRST HALF:
- The Lady Buffs went 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the floor in the opening half including 2-of-3 (66.7%) from behind the arc and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line with 16 rebounds (two offensive, 14 defensive), 10 assists, nine turnovers, no blocks and no steals.
- ENMU finished the first half going 6-of-27 (22.2%) from the field including 0-of-9 from deep and 3-of-4 (75%) from the free throw line with nine rebounds (six offensive, three defensive), three assists, six turnovers, no blocks and one steal.
 
SECOND HALF:
- WT finished the game going 22-of-41 (53.7%) from the floor including 3-of-7 (42.9%) from behind the arc and 14-of-18 (77.8%) from the free throw line with 37 rebounds (eight offensive, 29 defensive), 16 assists, 20 turnovers, one block and four steals.
