  • The Lead: The No. 10 West Texas A&M Buffs scored a season-high 61 points in the first half of a 112-78 rout of Southwestern Christian Friday evening.  The Buffs had a season-high seven players in double figures as all five starters scored in double figures.    
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • Behind hot shooting and a 4-for-4 start for the game, the Buffs jumped out to a 12-2 lead on four triples and built the lead to 16-2 with 16:37 left in the first half.
  • A quick 7-0 run by the Eagles pulled SWC within 17-9, but a triple from senior Jordan Evans pushed the lead back to double-digits.
  • Southwestern Christian cut the deficit to seven with a layup from Darius Madkin with 13:36 left in the half and Fredd Richardson later cut the deficit back to eight with 10;46 left at 29-21, but from there, WT ended the half on a 32-12 run for a 61-33 lead at halftime.
  • The Buffs turned on the pressure again in the second half as they outscored the Eagles 51-45 as freshman Sterling White, sophomore Wyatt Wheatly each saw their first action of the season.
  • The Buffs built the largest lead of the season at 41 points with 4:25 left in the game at 102-61.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • For the half, the Buffs shot 56.3 percent on 18 of 32 from the field as four Buffs were in double figures in the first half led by 14 points from Evans as he was 4 of 5 from the field with three triples and three free throws.
  • Junior Ryan Quaid had 12 points and seven rebounds in the half as WT drained 10 triples in the half on 16 attempts and went to the line 19 times, making 15.WT tallied 22 rebounds in the first half.Junior Victor Lewis had 10 points off the bench.
  • SWC was led by eight points from Michael Williams as the Eagles shot 14 of 30 from the field for 46.7, while going 0 of 3 from beyond the arc and 5 of 10 from the line.
  • Freshman Gaige Prim, the reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week, recorded his second-straight double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while junior Gach Gach tallied a career-high 19 points and added eight rebounds.
  • Lewis finished with 18 points on 5 of 8 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line, while Evans also had 18 points with four triples and five field goals.
  • The Buffs shot 54.0 percent on 34 of 63, while going a season-high 17 of 32 from beyond the arc and 27 of 37 from the line.WT pulled down 44 rebounds and dominated the offensive glass, 13-6.
  • SWC had four players in double figures led by 13 points from Richardson. The Eagles shot 46 percent on 29 of 63, while going just 3 of 9 from range and 17 of 24 from the charity stripe.
  • The Buffs won their 24th-straight game dating back to the 2015-16 season, while fourth-year head coach Tom Brown won his 69th game at WT, improving to 69-31.
  • The game was an exhibition game for Southwestern Christian.
