  • The Lead: Just 49 seconds into the first overtime, Oklahoma Baptist's Ruth King scored a goal off an assist from Hannah White, handing visiting West Texas A&M a 1-0 loss Monday afternoon and snapping the Lady Buffs' unbeaten streak at six games. 
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • Neither team scored in the first half as OBU had seven shots in the opening half, while WT had just one coming by freshman Calista Cordero late in the half.
  • OBU had three shots on goal and WT junior goalkeeper Courtney Dippel was up to the task each time.
  • The Lady Bison continued the attack early in the second half with four shots in the first four minutes and an 11-1 lead in shots to that point with five on goal.
  • WT's second shot of the game came at the 71:02 mark as the ball sailed wide off the foot of sophomore Samantha Silvestre.Freshman Mackenzie Taylor followed with a shot wide at the 78:13 mark for the third shot of the game for the Lady Buffs.
  • With 17 seconds left in regulation, OBU had a corner kick, as the Lady Bison were unable to capitalize for the winner sending the game to overtime.
  • In the overtime, King's goal came on a shot from the right wing and finished left with White on the assist.
 
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 
  • Through the first half, WT had not allowed a goal in the last 387:08 minutes dating back to the middle of the second half at Angelo State on Sept. 29, in a 2-2 tie.
  • Both teams had one corner kick in the half.
  • Through 90 minutes, OBU had 19 shots with nine on goal and two corners, while WT had three shots with none on frame and one corner.
  • The Lady Buffs upped their scoreless streak to 432:08 though regulation.
  • Dippel had six saves in the second half.
  • Monday's match was the fifth to go to overtime this season for the Lady Buffs and first to not end in a tie this season.
  • The loss snapped WT's unbeaten streak at six games, while OBU improved its unbeaten streak to eight games.
  • The three shots by the Lady Buffs were the fewest in a game this season and the no shots on goal, also marked a season-low.
  • The 20 shots by OBU was a season-high against the Lady Buffs and the 10 shots on goal by OBU was the third time this season WT had allowed double-digit shots on goal.
  • DIppel finished with nine saves in the game, while White had a team-high six shots with two on frame and the winning assist.King had four shots with three on frame and the game winner.
  • The scoreless streak for WT ended at 432:57.
 
 
UP NEXT:
 
  • The Lady Buffs return home to host UT Permian Basin on Friday at 7 p.m. at The Pitch and Sunday at 1 p.m. versus Angelo State at The Pitch.
  • This weekend's games begin the second half of the conference season, as the Lady Buffs are 3-0-3 through the first half sitting tied for second with Midwestern State as each team has 12 conference points.
  • Angelo State leads the standings with 13 conference points.
