COMMERCE, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team suffered its first Lone Star Conference loss of the season on Monday afternoon in a 2-0 setback to Texas A&M-Commerce. The Lions scored two goals in the final 45 minutes to end the Lady Buffs two match winning streak. With the loss, WT drop to 3-3, 1-1 in conference play with the loss while the No. 15 Lions improve to 5-2, 2-0 in LSC play.
Courtney Dippel made her first save of the match in the 37th minute on a shot from TAMUC's Anitra Wright to keep the score level at zero.
WT best chance of the first half came at 44:19 on a shot from Ronni Ajeto but it was turned away by TAMUC's keeper Caitlin Duty. Sophomore Sydney Hickerson followed up on the rebound but her shot was blocked.
The Lady Buffs finished the first half with three shots, two of those coming in the final minute.
The Lions went ahead 1-0 at 57:01 on a penalty kick after the Lady Buffs were whistled for a foul in the box. Savannah Grasser scored her fourth of the season the on ensuing kick. Grasser added a second at 76:18 after heading a ball to the far post off a corner.
The Lady Buffs didn't go down without a fight as Ajeto nearly got one back at 76:22 but her shot sailed over the cross bar.
The Lady Buffs finished the match with nine shots, three on target and three corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Dippel made three saves for the Lady Buffs.

NOTES:
· With the loss, the Lady Buffs lead the all-time series 20-14-2.
· Substitute Ronni Ajeto had a career-high four shots.
· WT is now 0-2-0 on the season when they concede a penalty kick.
· The Lady Buffs are one of three LSC teams with one win after the first weekend of conference play.
