With the wins, WT improved to 8-2 on the year, while the Cowboys fell to 1-8. WT won the opener 2-0 behind a complete game, one-hitter, 11-strikeout performance from senior
Justin McAllister and an 8-4 win the nightcap.
For the doubleheader, WT hit .339 on 19 of 56 with four doubles, one triple, seven RBI and ten runs scored. NMHU went just 9 of 52 (.172) from the plate with one double and four RBI, while scoring four runs. Senior
Nick Chapman hit .571 in the two games to lead the team.
Game #1In the opener, McAllister retired the first nine Cowboys in order with five strikeouts the first time through the lineup. WT had two, two out hits in the first two innings, but were unable to bring anyone around. WT senior
Matt Cole laced a single up the middle in the bottom of the third, again with two outs and were unable to score leaving the third run stranded of the game.
The Buffs put two on with one out in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of a double to the left field gap from junior
Hunter Henderson. WT plated the first run on a wild pitch as senior
Josh Day came round to score on the wild pitch for a 1-0 lead.

Trace Hansen hit a one out triple in the bottom of the sixth. Henderson hit a sacrifice fly to deep center for a 2-0 lead as Hansen scored. Senior
Jake Fuller hit his second double of the game to right center with two out, but a ground out to third ending the threat.
NMHU's Easton Garcia broke up McAllister's perfect game with a single up the middle with nobody out in the top of the seventh. A ground out to second followed as Garcia moved into scoring position at second. A ground out to short put Easton at third with two out and a walk followed with runners at the corners. A pass ball moved both runners into scoring position. McAllister tallied his 11
th strikeout of the game to end the game as WT posted the 2-0 shutout.
For the game, McAllister tossed the complete game, one-hit, shutout fanning 11 in the game with just one walk. Fuller led the way with two hits and a RBI, while five other Buffs had a hit.
Game #2WT loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the first with a walk and two singles. Following a strikeout, Hansen singled through the right side a for a 1-0 lead. WT was unable to score more leaving the bases full.
The Cowboys put two on with one out in the top of the second. Frankie Silva singled home a run for a 1-1 score through the left side. WT got out of the jam as NMHU stranded two.
Cole laced a double down the right field line for a 2-1 lead as junior
Troy LaBrie came in to score in the bottom of the second. Senior
Nick Chapman hit a RBI single to right for a 3-1 lead. NMHU made a move to the bullpen as Curtis Hynes relieved starter Jose Agosto. Day hit a sacrifice fly to right plating the third run of the inning and a 4-1 lead. A wild pitch plated another run for a 5-1 lead.
A single to center by Day in the bottom of the fourth, followed by an error on the pitcher plated Day for a 6-1 lead as Hansen reached second on the miscue. Phil Trujillo relieved Hynes following the error as WT pinch-hitter senior
Aaron De La Paz batted in place of Henderson. De La Paz drew a walk following a steal of third by Hansen for runners at the corners. On a throw to first by Trujillo, Hansen stole home for a 7-1 lead.
Jesus Caporal singled home a run in the top of the fifth for 7-2 score with two out. Brad Blackwell doubled down the left field line for runners at second and third. A big strikeout, his sixth of the game, by junior Josh Payne ended the threat.
Senior
Luke Wiechec relieved Payne is the sixth as junior
Joshua Payne went five innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs and he fanned six. Wiechec struck out the side in the sixth. In the bottom of the frame, Hansen reached on an error, stole second and third and scored on a RBI single for an 8-2 lead.
New Mexico Highlands put two on with one out in the top of the seventh courtesy of a miscue in the field by the Buffs. The hit and run for Caporal produced a run as the Cowboys cut the deficit to 8-3. Wiechec got a RBI ground out as NMHU cut the deficit to 8-4. A ground out to short ended the game.
For the second game, WT had eight runs on 12 hits with one error, while NMHU had four runs on eight hits with two errors. Payne (1-1) earned the win, while Wiechec picked up the save in two innings of work, allowing one hit, two unearned runs, one walk and he fanned three.
Offensively in game two, Chapman was 3 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored. Hansen had four stolen bases in the game for a career-high for one game, while WT stole a season-high eight in the game. Hansen was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
The Buffs and Cowboys will conclude the four game series Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wilder Park.
