Satorie Breaks School Record as Buffs Dismantle Eastern New Mexico 3-0 on Saturday Afternoon

CANYON, Texas – Junior Patrick Satorie broke the school record for most shutouts in a season as the West Texas A&M men's soccer team defeated rival Eastern New Mexico on Senior Day at The Pitch. The Buffs honored  Christian Suthers, Thomas Vickers, Ryan Kennedy, Tom Cowling and Jake Wiffen at halftime in their final regular season match at The Pitch. With the win, the Buffs improve to 12-3-1 and 9-2-1 in Heartland Conference play while the Greyhounds fall to 5-7-4 (3-6-3).

"I am happy that we were able to send the seniors out with a victory," said WT men's soccer head coach Butch Lauffer. "We controlled the game from the whistle and struggled to convert in front of goal for the second straight match. I think that we can take a lot of positives out of this match and we were able to get a lot of different players some playing time."

The Buffs came out firing on all cylinders as Evan Bozman nearly put the Buffs up just a minute into the game after using his speed to beat his defender down the right side. The Garland, Texas native was unable to beat ENMU's James Gutierrez at the near post.

Reece Schattle got the Buffs on the board right before the half hour mark courtesy of a nifty assist from Rafael Vasconcellos. Schattle scored his second goal in three matches after receiving the ball on the right side from Vasconcellos and beating Gutieerez across goal.

Vasconcellos nearly doubled the Buffs advantage at 32:26 after running through the Greyhound defense but his first touch was saved by Gutierrez as she second shot was blocked by two defenders.

The Buffs generated 18 shots in the first half while holding the Greyhounds to 0.

Ivan Ulloa finally got the Buffs they had been pressing for at 60:36 on a nice through ball from Michael Garcia. The sophomore midfielder timed his run on the left side perfectly to latch onto Garcia's pass before slotting the ball into the right side.

Vickers put the nail in the coffin with his goal at 83:23 to make it 3-0 over the Greyhounds. The Essex, England native showed his touch on a cross from Ulloa before one touching the ball past Gutierrez into the right corner.

Junior Patrick Satorie made two saves, both coming in the second half, as he broke the school record for most shutouts in a season with 10.
