#22 Lady Buffs Register Program Win #1100 in a Season Opening Sweep of Dallas Baptist

CANYON, Texas – The #22 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M began their 2015 season on a high note Friday afternoon as they swept past the visiting Lady Patriots of Dallas Baptist (25-22, 25-23, 25-21) in front of over 500 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon. It marks the 1,100th victory as a program for the Lady Buffs dating back to the 1973 season, during that span they are 1,100 -459-13 for a winning percentage of over 70%.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by senior middle blocker Lexi Davis who started off her final year in a WT uniform with 12 kills on 14 swings to hit an impressive .714 on the afternoon to go along with 2.5 total blocks. Junior transfer Elisa Bentsen tallied eight kills on 16 swings followed by freshman Dalaney Tuholski (6 kills ) and junior Cori Haley (5 kills). WT was led defensively by Kyli Schulz with 23 assists and 12 digs for a double-double followed by Haley with 10 digs. The Lady Buffs hit .190 as a team with 46 kills on 121 swings to go along with 23 attack errors while registering 42 assists, 52 digs and eight total blocks.
 
The Lady Patriots were led by Brooke Manley with 10 kills on 29 swings followed by Carly Hess with 10 kills on 28 swings to hit .179 on the afternoon. DBU was led by Kaycie Byrd with 20 assists to go along with eight digs while Lauren Nicks led all players with 18 digs. Dallas Baptist hit .108 as a team with 33 kills on 111 swings with 21 attack errors to go along with 32 assists, 47 digs and eight total blocks in the match.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs return to action tonight as they take on Colorado State-Pueblo with first serve set for 7:30 p.m. tonight or 30 minutes following the prior match. The ThunderWolves topped LSC foe Eastern New Mexico in four sets earlier this morning.
