OC Game Dakota State Game Season StatsOKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The West Texas A&M baseball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 9-3 victory over Oklahoma Christian and an 18-3 neutral site victory over Dakota State. With the wins, WT improved to 7-2 on the year, while OC fell to 1-5 and Dakota State fell to 0-1.
Against OC, the Buffs belted out 13 hits and scored nine runs and committed just one error. Five different Buffs had two hits each in the contest. Junior
Trace Hansen was 2 for 4 with two RBI, while junior
Matt Cole was 2 for 4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a home run. Junior
Jace Reese was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, a RBI and a home run.
On the mound, junior
Brooks Trujillo (1-1) earned the win in five innings of work, allowing six hits, three runs – one earned, two walks and he fanned seven. Juniors
Kyle Tinius and
Justin McAllister each pitched an inning, while senior
Paul Lujan saw his first action of the season pitching the ninth.
WT opened the scoring in the first as junior

Ryan March for a 1-0 score. OC tied the game at one in the third on a single to left, following a double to begin the frame.
The Buffs added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth for a 5-1 lead, but OC came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 5-3 deficit. WT added a run in the seventh and four in the eighth as Reese and Cole each belted home runs in the frame.
Against Dakota State, WT belted out a season-high 18 hits and scored a season-high 18 runs. WT had two home runs from seniors
Aaron Blair and
Jacob Caples. WT senor
Kyle Olason (2-1) earned the win in 4.1 innings of work, allowing five hits, three runs – two earned, two walks and four strikeouts.
DSU scored first in its first at bat as an error proved costly. The lead was short lived, however, as WT scored four in the bottom of the frame highlighted by the three run home run from Blair. The Buffs added four more in the second for an 8-1 lead, two in the fourth and then seven in the fifth.
The Buffs return to action next weekend as they travel to New Mexico Highlands for a three-game set.
