CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team lost to Lubbock Christian, 3-2, on Monday night at The Pitch. The Buffs honored the six seniors, Tre Norton, George Beasley, Austin Henderson, Chase Withrow, Daniel Angloher and Conrod Goulbourne, before the match. Beasley and Jake Wiffen were the goal scorers for the Buffs in the loss.

WT was the aggressor early in the match when both Withrow and Goulbourne saw their shots blocked away in the 8th minute. Angloher forced a save from LCU's Fernando Rios in the 10th minute. Tom Cowling once again provided some offense punch from the backline when his header was just a bit too high in the 25th minute. Beasley nearly put the Buffs ahead two minutes later but was denied by Rios.

Chris Johnson made an immediate impact once he was subbed in forcing Rios to make another save in the 32nd minute. The Buffs finally found pay dirt right before half when Wiffen got on the end of Johnson's long cross in the 40th minute. It was Wiffen's third of the season.

LCU earned two consecutive corners in the 46th minute but were unable to find the goal. Mitchel Hopkins forced a Patrick Satorie save in the 49th minute before Angloher countered with a shot of his own. Goulbourne nearly added a brace in the 54thbut was denied by Rios.

The Chaps tied the match when Tommy Fagerty converted a penalty kick in the 71st minute. But the Buffs responded quickly with a goal in the 73rd minute. George Beasley got on the end of Cowling's free kick and guided it far post to put the Buffs back in front.

Mbongeni Ndlovu equalized the match in the 85th minute after gathering a loose ball in the box and shooting it past the WT defense. LCU stole the match on a header from Kwame Adu-Wusu in the 87th minute. Ndlovu found space just outside the box and found a streaking Wusu for the goal.
