Lady Buffs and Belles Battle in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals Thursday in Stephenville

CANYON, Texas –
 The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs will renew one of the best rivalries in all of NCAA Division II Volleyball as they try to keep their season alive on Thursday afternoon in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals against the rival Belles of Angelo State with first serve set for 2:30 p.m. at Wisdom Gym South in Stephenville, Texas. The Lady Buffs are making their 21st overall and 11th straight appearance in the LSC Tournament.
 
WEST TEXAS A&M 
The Lady Buffs ended the regular season on a high note on Saturday afternoon as they rolled past the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas in straight sets (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas. The Lady Buffs move to 16-16 (5-11 LSC) on the season following a non-conference sweep of St. Edward's on Thursday night in Austin.
 
HOME DOMINANCE 
The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 444-68 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 87.3%. The Lady Buffs are no-stranger to starting off the season on a high-note, WT is 31-5 all-time in season opening games including an impressive 27-1 when the Lady Buffs open-up the season at home including a sweep of Dallas Baptist earlier this season.
 
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH 
WT head coach Jason Skoch, the 2014 Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his seventh season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 352-66 (.870, 12th year) including a 216-46 (.865) mark in Canyon.

LADY BUFFS IN THE LSC TOURNAMENT
The Lady Buffs enter the 2015 LSC Tournament for the 21st overall time and the 11th consecutive season. WT holds an overall record of 43-5 (.896) in the LSC Tournament. WT has made 16 appearances in the Championship Match with a 15-1 overall record as the Lady Buffs will be going for their 16th LSC Tournament Championship this weekend in Stephenville.
 
MOVING ON UP 
Junior libero Lauren Britten is making her way up the program's all-time digs list as the Amarillo native currently sits in eighth place in the WT record books with 1,580 career digs. She is currently 124 digs away from seventh place held by former WT standout Lauren Thedford (1,704 - 2007-10).
 
BLOCK PARTY 
Senior Lexi Davis is making her mark on the WT record books as well, the Dumas native currently has 391 total career blocks to sit in ninth place all-time as she has already passed Laura Iwuchukwu (369, 2009-13) and Sarah Butler (367, 1997-99). Kimberly James (1999-02) currently sits in seventh place with 403 total blocks.
 
ANGELO STATE
The #25 Belles of Angelo State enter the weekend with an overall record of 28-8 with a 14-2 mark in Lone Star Conference play to enter the weekend as the second overall seed as they carry a nine match win streak into the weekend. The Belles are led by eighth year head coach Chuck Waddington who has a 164-71 record at ASU after seven seasons, guiding the Belles to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Title Match in 2012 and 2013. ASU is led offensively by Brianna Sotello with 429 kills on 1,181 swings to hit .205 on the season while averaging 3.67 kills per frame, Maggie Jo Keffury guides the ASU offense with 1,401 assists to average 11.97 per set this season. Defensively, the Belles are led by Katie MacLeay with 624 digs to average 5.29 per frame while Morgan Seaton leads the team in total blocks with 68 to average 0.70 per frame. The Belles are hitting .231 as a team with 1,737 kills on 4,733 swings with 645 attack errors to go along with 1,639 assists, 2,283 digs and 188 total blocks on the year to average 1.58 per set.

THE SERIES VS. ASU
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against Angelo State, 55-17 with ASU sweeping the regular season series from the Lady Buffs for the first time in program history. WT and ASU has become one of the top rivalries in Division II Volleyball over the last few years as the teams have met 18 times since Skoch came to Canyon with WT holding the 15-3 record including a perfect 6-0 mark against the Belles during LSC Tournament or NCAA Postseason play.
