CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs will close out the regular season on the road this weekend as they travel South to take on St. Edward's on Thursday night (7 p.m.) followed by the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) inside of the Steinke Center against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
WEST TEXAS A&M The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs snapped a three game win streak as they were topped in straight sets by the defending South Central Regional Champion Lions of Arkansas-Fort Smith (25-22, 25-23, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon at Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita, Kansas. Friday saw the Lady Buffs top Oklahoma Panhandle State and Newman in straight sets as WT head coach
Jason Skoch picked up his 350
th career victory in a sweep of the host Jets on Friday night.
HOME DOMINANCE The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 444-68 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 87.3%. The Lady Buffs are no-stranger to starting off the season on a high-note, WT is 31-5 all-time in season opening games including an impressive 27-1 when the Lady Buffs open-up the season at home including a sweep of Dallas Baptist earlier this season.

Jason Skoch, the 2014 Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his seventh season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 350-66 (.870, 12th year) including a 214-46 (.865) mark in Canyon.

THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE Entering Tuesday, LSC volleyball teams were 153-105 overall this season. The squads were 20-7 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 28-13 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region. Angelo State's Mallory Blauser was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week while Tarleton State's Kenya Alexander picked up the Defensive honors while TSU teammate Chandler Gow was tabbed the league's Setter of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the LSC offices located in Richardson, Texas.

Lauren Britten is making her way up the program's all-time digs list as the Amarillo native currently sits in eighth place in the WT record books with 1,559 career digs. She is currently 145 digs away from seventh place held by former WT standout Lauren Thedford (1,704 - 2007-10).

Lexi Davis is making her mark on the WT record books as well, the Dumas native currently has 385 total career blocks to sit in ninth place all-time as she has already passed Laura Iwuchukwu (369, 2009-13) and Sarah Butler (367, 1997-99). Kimberly James (1999-02) currently sits in seventh place with 403 total blocks.
ST. EDWARD'SThe Hilltoppers enter the weekend with an overall record of 7-19 with a 5-10 mark in the Heartland Conference as they carry a four match losing streak into Thursday night's matchup with WT. St. Edwards is led by first year head coach Mary DeJute. The Hilltoppers are led offensively by Mikayla Grill with 218 kills on 839 swings with 135 attack errors to hit .099 on the season followed by Katie Martin with 169 kills on the season, Julia Hartley guides the St. Edwards offense with 352 assists on the season to average 3.96 per set while Morgan Beckham leads the team in digs with 472 (5.02/set). The Hilltoppers are hitting .118 as a team with 985 kills on 3,626 swings with 556 errors to go along with 904 assists, 87 service aces, 1,637 digs and 170.5 total blocks to average 1.81 per set this season. WT leads the all-time series against the Hilltoppers, 10-1.
TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLEThe Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville enter the weekend with an overall record of 18-13 with a 7-7 mark in LSC play as they enter the weekend on a three match losing streak. TAMUK is led by fifth year head coach Tanya Allen who led the Javelinas to an 18-13 season and their third straight Lone Star Conference Tournament appearance in 2014. The Javelinas are led offensively by Krystal Faison with 347 kills to average 2.99 per set this season followed by closely Valarie Moehrig with 334 kills (2.93/set), defending LSC Setter of the Year Casey Klobedans guides the TAMUK offense with 1,161 assists this season to average 10.01 per frame while Brett Zaccardo leads the team with 583 digs (5.03/set). The Javelinas are hitting .178 as a team this season with 1,483 kills on 4,350 attempts with 708 errors to go along with 1,387 assists, 163 service aces, 2,078 digs and 225.5 total blocks to average 1.94 per frame. The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Javelinas, 48-8 with TAMUK snapping a 17 match WT win streak with a four set win over the Lady Buffs back on October 10
th in Canyon.
