CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team were unable to find the back of the net in its 2-0 loss to #2 Midwestern State Thursday night at The Pitch. WT had 11 shots but were only able to put two on goal. The Buffs were shutout for just the second time all season and first time at home.

The Buffs opened the match pressuring the Mustangs into mistakes which resulted in a shot by Shane Dockery in the 2nd minute. Jake Wiffen was denied in the 14th minute by Brice Garner. MSU nearly grabbed the lead in the 21st minute when Albert Rodrgiuez found space near the penalty box but his shot was pushed aside by Patrick Satorie. Javan Toledo nearly put the Mustangs ahead just seconds later off a corner his header was cleared off the line by Austin Henderson.

Rodriguez was denied once again but this time in the 26th minute. Chase Withrow had WT's best chance of the first half in the 37th minute when he found space on the right wing but his shot sailed wide. The Mustangs held a slight 4-1 advantage in shots after the 45 minutes but forced Satorie to make four saves.

The Buffs were the aggressor at the start of the second half earning three corners in the first seven minutes. During that time, Alan Salazar saw his shot get blocked which resulted in another corner kick. The Mustangs struck first in the 53rd minute when Flavio Guzman found a streaking Juan Farres in the box. Farres created space from his defender and slotted the ball near post for his fourth goal of the season.

MSU wasted no time adding another in the 61st minute when Leon Taylor created space in the midfield and found an open Albert Rodriguez who calmly slotted the ball far post past a surging Satorie.
Rodriguez nearly added a second goal just minutes later but was denied by Satorie once more.

The Buffs best chance came in the 78th minute off a corner from Wiffen. Chris Johnson controlled the ball after it was punched out and took a shot from long distance. MSU's Gardner was unable to handle the ball and Evan Bozman nearly scored off the rebound but saw his shot get blocked by a defender.
