CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M started fast as they moved to 32-0 all-time against the rival Midwestern State Mustangs with a four set win (25-18, 25-20, 26-28, 25-20) in front of over 400 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" on Friday night in Canyon. The Lady Buffs improve to 9-10 (2-6 LSC) on the season while the Mustangs fall to 5-17 (0-8 LSC) on the season.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Curl and Haley with 13 kills each followed by Davis with 12 and
Elisa Bentsen with nine, Jackson guided the WT offense with a match high 47 assists to go along with 17 digs for the double-double while Haley also registered a double-double (13 kills, 14 digs). WT hit .268 as a team with 57 kills on 153 swings with 16 attack errors to go along with 53 assists, three service aces, 77 digs and 12.5 total blocks in the match.
Midwestern State was led by Porter with a match high 14 kills followed by Schiffner with 12 and Bettis with 11, Chamberlain guided the Mustangs with 34 assists on the night while Dix led all players with 28 digs on the night. MSU hit .170 as a team with 59 kills on 176 swings with 29 attack errors to go along with 52 assists, four service aces, 77 digs and just four blocks on the night.
NEXT TIME OUTThe Lady Buffs returns to Lone Star Conference action tomorrow afternoon as they host the Cameron Aggies with first serve set for 2 p.m. at the WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon. The Aggies (13-4, 4-4 LSC) fell to Eastern New Mexico in four sets (25-23, 16-25, 19-25, 15-25) on Friday night in Portales, Cameron started off the season 13-0 before dropping their last four matches.
