CANYON, Texas – Christian Suthers goal in the latter stages of the match sealed the deal for the Buffs on Monday night against Oklahoma Baptist. Suther's goal in the 86th was the difference in the 3-2 for the West Texas A&M men's soccer team. The Buffs improve their record to 7-4-0 while the Bison fall to 4-9-0.

"We made really hard work of it tonight," head coach Butch Lauffer said. "I am a little disappointed in the performance of the group. We will come to train tomorrow and fix those little things. Our attention now turns to Saturday's match and playing a better game there."

The Buffs opened the match with control of the possession and found plenty of space down the right side of the pitch. Jake Wiffen used that space in the 10th minute to perfectly place a cross at the foot of Suthers for the opening goal. WT continued to attack and nearly got another when Conrod Goulbourne found space in the box but was rejected by Marcus Oliveira at point blank range. They finally got their brace in the 44th minute when Douglas Hellstrom wiggled his way around his defender and found a streaking Filip Janjic in the box. The Buffs went into half time with a two goal advantage and outshot the Bison, 10-1.

The Buffs timid play to start the second half allowed the Bison to gain momentum and eventually score their first goal of the match. Vicente Castillo's pace was too much for WT in the 51st minute as he found space and sent the ball to the far post to bring the Bison within one. The Buffs were close to adding another as Chase Withrow constantly found empty space but his crosses were cleared by the Bison.
Suthers put his stamp on the match in the 86th minute when he got on the end of Janjic's cross and blasted the ball in the back of net as the Buffs regained their two goal advantage. The Bison responded quickly as Castillo once again found space  in the 87th minute and went near post to bring the Bison within one. But it was a little too late as WT helped on for their fourth consecutive victory.
