Box Score

Season Stats

CANYON, Texas  –  A season-high 27 points from West Texas A&M senior Chontiquah White helped spark the Lady Buffs to an 80-65 victory over visiting Texas Woman's Sunday evening.  With the win, WT ran its winning streak to six games and pulled into a tie for first in the Lone Star Conference with a 6-1 record and a 15-2 record overall.  Texas Woman's fell to 12-7 and 5-3 in league play.

"It was more fluid in the second half today," head coach Mark Kellogg said.  "We battled and battled in the second half and we kept our head up and kept battling through it.  TWU is very good defensively and took us out of some things early in the game.  I thought we defended well tonight, too, all in all it was a good win for us with three games in five days."

WT capped a busy week with this win as the Lady Buffs opened the week on Wednesday with an overtime thriller at Tarleton State in an 87-86 victory and then returned home to defeat Texas A&M-Commerce yesterday 100-73 and followed just over 24 hours later with the victory over TWU.

WT now has six days before it travels to Eastern New Mexico for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) tip in Portales, N.M., Jan. 31.  The Lady Buffs return to the First United Bank Center Saturday, Feb. 7 versus Texas A&M-Kingsville at 2 p.m.

Kellogg improved to 47-5 at WT and 21-2 in Lone Star Conference play over his two years at the helm of the program.  WT now has won 27 of 29 regular season conference games dating back to the 2012-13 season.

White led three Lady Buffs in scoring as she was 8 of 17 from the field and 9 of 11 from the line with nine rebounds, while tying her career-high with two triples.  Senior Ariel Robertson added 14 points on 7 of 9 from the field, while junior Danielle Logan chipped in 10 points with two triples.
