Michaela Neuhaus scored a game and career-high 25 points as the No. 1-ranked Lady Buffs blew past Adams State 75-46 Saturday evening. With the win, the Lady Buffs improved to 2-1 on the year, while Adams State fell to 0-4.
Neuhaus, a native of Lone Tree, Colo., and a transfer from the University of Denver, had her career-high 25 points on 7 of 11 from the field and 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, to go along with 7 of 8 from the line. She tallied three assists and a team-high three steals. She was the lone Lady Buff in double figures. Her 25 points topped her previous best of 18 coming at Utah State (1/19/12) while she was at Denver.

Chontiquah White had a game-high 13 rebounds, but scored just seven points as her streak of back-to-back double-doubles came to an end. White was just 2 of 6 from the field and 3 of 4 from the line.
The Lady Buffs went 25 of 58 from the field for 43.1 percent. They were a season-best 8 of 20 from beyond the arc for 40 percent and still continued to struggle from the line going 17 of 29 for 58 percent. Despite the misses at the charity stripe, the Lady Buffs held ASU to just 7 of 11 from the line. WT outrebounded the Grizzlies 42-28 and 15-7 on the offensive end and held an 18-5 lead in second chance points.
In a game completely dominated by West Texas A&M, Adams State held an early 4-3 lead, but WT responded with a 19-2 run capped with a triple from Neuhaus on an assist from senior
Jordan Vessels for a 22-6 lead with 10:25 left in the first half.
The Grizzlies scored four quick points for a 22-10 deficit with 9:47 left, but the Lady Buffs had another big run closing the half with a 19-6 run for a 41-16 lead at intermission. For the half, WT shot 13 of 28 from the field and 4 of 11 from range, while going 11 of 18 from the line. WT held ASU to just 8 of 27 from the field and 0 of 6 from beyond the arc and 0 of 1 from the line. The Lady Buffs forced 14 turnovers leading to a 20-4 lead in points off turnovers.
The second half opened with a triple from junior
Madison McLain as WT opened an early 9-2 run through the first three minutes and a 50-18 lead. ASU kept fighting and pulled within 56-30 with 11:15 left on a steal and layup from Mariah Gonzales.
McLain pushed the lead back to 30 with a layup off her own offensive rebound at 60-30 with 9:25 left. A triple from Neuhaus and layup from senior
Ariel Robertson swelled the lead to a game-high 35 points at 65-30 at the 7:33 mark, but the Grizzlies closed the game on a 16-10 run.
The Lady Buffs return home to host the PAK-A-SAK Thanksgiving Classic next Friday and Saturday at the First United Bank Center. The Lady Buffs open the tournament on Friday at 5 p.m. versus Truman State and then battle No. 15 Harding Saturday at 5 p.m. With the men having its tournament, too, there will be eight games played over the two days with four men's and four women's games.
