2009-10
Simmons made an immediate impact for the Lady Buffs in just her first season with the team. She started in 31 of the 34 games she played in, averaging a team-high 14.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. She recorded an impressive 52.9% shooting from the field and converted 63.0% of her shots from the charity stripe. She grabbed a total of 275 rebounds on the season, including 77 on the offensive side of the court. Simmons dished out 46 assists and had 31 steals to go along with her team-high 25 blocks. She was named the LSC South Division’s Newcomer of the Year and was a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention selection as well.
Previous School
Simmons attended Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas and played forward for head coach Michael Landers.
High School
At Jesse H. Jones High in Houston, Texas, Simmons was a power forward for head coach Q Shelton. As a senior, she was named the State Most Valuable Player, being the first player in Texas to receive the honor without her team making it to state. She was also selected as the Great Houston Player of the Year. Simmons also lettered in cross country and volleyball in all four years of high school.
Personal
Jamie is the mother of a two-year-old daughter, Royaltee. She has five siblings, Kinberly, Tyeshia, Christopher, George, and Brittany. She is a general studies major with an emphasis in sports broadcasting.
