Biography

2009-10
McClain started in 29 of the 34 contests she played in her junior season with the Lady Buffs. She became a crutial part of the WT offense in 2009-10, averaging a career-high 11.9 points a game while making 49.5% of her shots from the field - including a 13-for-46 effort from beyond the three-point line. She converted 76.1% (134-176) of her shots from the charity stripe and pulled down 3.5 boards a game as well. She tallied 75 assists and ranked second on the team with 41 steals. She recorded a career-high 32 points in a game at Texas A&M-Kingsville and had three different games where she recorded season-highs of eight rebounds.

2008-09

In her sophomore season, McLain saw an increase in playing time, averaging 12.3 minutes per game and setting new career highs in every category. She averaged 4.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. From the field, McLain tallied 47-140 for a shooting percentage of 33.6%, with 14 field goals from the three-point line. She also registered 58 total rebounds, 24 assists, 21 steals, and eight blocks. She tallied a career high of 14 points against Southeastern Oklahoma in the second round of the Lone Star Conference tournament. She also recorded a career-high of six rebounds in postseason play against Emporia in the NCAA Regional tournament. For her performance in the classroom, McLain was named to the LSC South Division Commissioners honor roll.

 

2007-08
McLain saw action in 27 games in her freshman campaign, averaging more than 10 minutes per game. She totaled 32-88 (.346) field goals and 14-46 (.304) from behind the three-point line. McLain also pulled down 33 rebounds, averaging 1.2 rebounds per game. She contributed 15 assists, 13 steals, and two blocks while on the court. She averaged 3.4 points per game and earned her career high of 13 points against Eastern New Mexico on Jan. 19, 2008.

 

High School
McLain helped the Channing Eagles finish 24-8 her senior year, while averaging 29.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. She was named Division 2-1A Player of the Year and Amarillo Globe News Player of the Year after helping her squad reach the regional finals. A McDonald's all-American nominee, McLain was named TABC all-State, 6-man all-State, and Texas Basketball Magazine All-State. She was also a District MVP, TAMC all-Star and 6-man all-Star. McLain was the valedictorian of her graduating class and was named Academic all-District at CHS. She also lettered for four years in cross country and track. In the state track meet, she finished third in the 300 hurdles in 2006 and fourth in the 100 hurdles in 2007.

 

Personal
The daughter of Robert and Connie McLain, Megan is majoring in sports and exercise science and has two siblings, Mackenzie and Grant.
