Freshman (2013-14) Cross Country: Placed 24th at 26:11.6 in the 25th annual Chili Pepper Cross Country Festival (8K). Placed second overall at the Wagonwheel Dual (8K) with a time of 26:34.66. Named LSC Freshman of the Year and LSC All-Conference with his fourth-place showing at the LSC Championships (8K) with a time of 25:49.90. Crossed the line second for the Buffs with a 20th place finish, earning All-Region honors, with a time of 31:09 at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships (10K). Helped the Buffs to a 14th place finish at the NCAA National Championships (10K) by crossing the line in 84th place (69 points) with a time of 31:59.8.
Track & Field: As a freshman, Lagat scored in both the 3000m (fourth) and 5000m (seventh) events at the LSC Indoor Championship, helping the Buffs to their first team title in program history. He then earned an LSC individual championship at the LSC Outdoor meet where he topped the field in the 10,000m event, setting a new facility record at Javelina Stadium in the process. His PRs in 2014 included 2:00.43 (800m), 2:35.57 (1000m), 3:59.11 (1500m), 4:31.62 (mile), 8:37.55 (3000m), 15:20.62 (5000m) and 31:23.84 (10,000m).
High School: Graduated from Tulon HS in Kapsabet Kenya in 2011. Competed in the 800m and 1500m.
