Maggie enters her second year as the graduate assistant coach for the West Texas A&M Track & Field program where she works primarily with Buff and Lady Buff mid-distance and distance athletes. She also assists with both the men's and women's cross country programs.
In her first season at WT, Fitter helped coach two national qualifiers and seven top-three Lone Star Conference finishers, including one LSC Champion, between her events. She also helped the men's cross country, men's indoor track & field, and women's indoor track & field teams to their first LSC titles in program history as well as the women's cross country team to its second-straight LSC Championship.
Prior to her arrival in Canyon, Fitter was a four-year standout student-athlete in cross country and indoor/outdoor track & field at Keene State College, an NCAA Division III institution in Keene, N.H. under head coach Peter Thomas. At Keene, Fitter was a four-time national qualifier in track & field in addition to a national qualifier in cross country. She was a two-time All-American in the DMR and 800m and holds three school records (4x800, DMR, 600m). Some of her personal bests include 2:11.03 (800m) and 4:36.61 (1500). She graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in communications.
Growing up in Branford, Conn., Fitter was a highly successful athlete at Branford High School. She competed in the 400m, 800m and 1600m events. She was a two-time state champion in the 4x800 and 800m events and holds six school records. Fitter was also a four-year letterwinner in soccer.
Fitter is the daughter of Rae and George Fitter and has two siblings, Elizabeth (24) and Brian (18). She is currently pursuing her master's degree in sports and exercise science at West Texas A&M.
