Previous School: Escalera attended Oklahoma Wesleyan University (Oklahoma) in 2011, helping the Eagles to their first ever appearance in the NAIA National Tournament as well as the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) regular season and tournament championship.

Previous School: Escalera attended El Paso Community College (Texas).

High School: Escalera graduated from Preparatoria El Chamizal in Juarez, Mexico in 2009.

Personal: Escalera is the son of Roberto and Lucia Escalera and has two siblings, Gabriella and Pablo. He is studying Civil Engineering at West Texas A&M.
