Welsch recently completed his second season as a student assistant coach with the Buffalo men's soccer program. Last season, Welsch helped lead the team to a 9-7-1 overall record, completing the program's 22nd consecutive non-losing season. In 2013, he helped lead the team to a 12-3-1 overall record in its first season as an independent men's soccer team without a conference. WT ranked as high as fifth in the NSCAA national rankings during the season.
