Junior College: Gonzalez played Junior College ball for Temple Junior College in Temple, TX.  He was a pitcher for head coach Mamatry.  There he won back to back conference championships, regionals, and Junior College World Series. 
 
High School: Gonzalez played High School for Rockdale High School in Rockdale, TX.
