Loewer’s Triple-Double Isn’t Enough as #25 WT Falls in Pueblo

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M sophomore Casey Loewer registered the first triple-double by a Lady Buff since 2019 on Wednesday but the CSU Pueblo ThunderWolves battled back for a reverse sweep (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 13-15) in a thriller at Massari Arena in Pueblo, Colorado.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the match with 63 kills on 187 swings with 32 errors for an attack percentage of .166 to go along with four aces, 57 assists, 88 digs and seven total blocks. CSU Pueblo had a team hitting percentage of .184 with 61 kills and 26 errors on 190 attempts to go along with 56 assists, three aces, 78 digs and 14 blocks.
 
Kaycee Cavanaugh led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs with a career-high 20 kills on 46 swings with four errors to hit .348 along with 14 digs for a double-double. Anna Ruter had 13 kills and four block with an attack percentage of .375, Loewer paced the WT offense with 25 assists while Avery Ramos led the way in the back row with 21 digs.
 
Loewer's triple-double (12 kills, 25 assists, 14 digs) is the just third in Division II volleyball this season and the first by a Lady Buff since Sadie Snay had 12 kills, 42 assists and 12 digs at UT Permian Basin back on November 16, 2019.
 
The Lady Buffs make their way to Denver to compete in the historic Colorado Premiere Challenge starting on Friday with matchups against Anderson and #5 Ferris State on the campus of Regis University.
