CANYON, Texas – The #4 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M dropped a 4-0 decision to the fifth-seeded Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas on Friday afternoon during the semifinal round of the 2026 Lone Star Conference Softball Championships at Schaeffer Park.

The Javelinas jumped out to an early lead in the top of the second inning as Ella Scrubar started the frame with a solo shot to left field for the 1-0 advantage.

Kingsville added to their advantage in the sixth inning as Lainee Ballin singled down the right field line with two outs to score Megan Geyer followed by a Kennia Chong single to left field that plated Ballin at 3-0.Â

TAMUK added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on a Geyer RBI groundout to third base that scored Srubar at 4-0.

Brooke Janning picked up the loss (22-3) in the circle, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits with two walks in the complete game defeat.

Texas A&M-Kingsville advances to the LSC Championship game on Saturday afternoon as they will battle #18 Angelo State at 2:00 p.m. in Canyon. The Belles topped #21 UT Tyler during Friday's first semifinal, 3-1.

The Lady Buffs await their postseason fate as the complete field for the 2026 Division II Softball Championship will be announced on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. CT via an online selection show at NCAA.com.
