Mia Hammerschmid sits ninth on the individual leaderboard following the opening day of the 2026 NCAA Division II West Regional Championships at Pueblo Country Club (Par 71 – 5,923 Yards) in Pueblo, Colorado.
Due to impending weather in the Pueblo area on Tuesday and Wednesday, the regional attempted to complete the first two rounds on Monday. All golfers in the 18-team, 96-player field finished at least 15 holes in the second round.
Hammerschmid shot a +3 (74) during the opening round as she enters the final hole of the second round with a 151 (+9) following the suspension of play due to darkness. The Lady Buffs sit eighth on the team leaderboard entering the stoppage of play with a score of 623 (+58).
Dallas Baptist holds the team lead (+34, 599) by five strokes over Cal State San Marcos. Ella Cheek of DBU leads the way individually with a +2 (144) thru 36 holes. The top-five teams and top-two individuals outside of advancing teams will punch their ticket to the NCAA Division II Championships on May 12-16 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
The conclusion of round two will resume at 9:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday followed by the re-pairing and start of round three.
