CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M fell in the Lone Star Conference series opener in the final weekend of the regular season to the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas, 3-2 at Nolan Ryan Field in Kingsville, Texas.

The Javelinas jumped out to a lead in the home half of the third on a Nick Reyes RBI single to center that scored Travis Vlasek followed by a Jayden Martinez fielder's choice groundout to plate Reyes at 2-0.

The Buffs battled back and tied the game in the top of the sixth with a
Timothy Haynes two-run double to the gap in left center with one out to score
Brock Bunker and
Jake Alwine at 2-2. TAMUK score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth with a Cade Minus RBI groundout to plate Landon Salinas a 3-2.

Bryan Raitz claimed the loss (4-4) for the Buffs, allowing three earned runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts in his eight innings of work.

The Buffs and Javelinas return to the diamond tomorrow afternoon with first pitch of a doubleheader set for 2:00 p.m.
