CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes closed out the regular season home schedule on a high note on Sunday afternoon, claiming a 13-11 Lone Star Conference victory over the Texas A&M International Dustdevils at Wilder Park in Canyon.

The Dustdevils got on the board in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of a WT defensive miscue followed by a Fabrizio Salinas RBI double for the 2-0 lead. WT responded in the bottom of the frame on a
Timothy Haynes infield RBI single followed by
Tristin Thomas three-run long ball to right center at 4-2.

TAMIU cut into the lead in the top of the second with an Eduardo Espinoza RBI single to right to make it 4-3. The Buffs answered in the home half with a
Jake Alwine ground-rule double that scored
Brock Bunker followed by a Haynes RBI double at 6-3.

The Dustdevils pushed across another run in the top of the fourth inning on an Eddie Saenz sac fly to right that plated Espinoza at 6-3. WT added to their lead in the bottom of the inning with Thomas staying hot at the plate, singling to left to score
Jacob Police for the 7-4 advantage.

The Buffs used the long ball to add to their lead in the home half of the fifth on a three-run blast to left by Police at 10-4. WT extended their lead in the sixth on a
Daniel Castellanos RBI double off the left field wall for the 11-4 lead. TAMIU cut into the lead in the top of the seventh on a ground ball double play with the bases loaded followed by consecutive RBI single to make it 11-7.

WT added to their lead in the seventh as Police started off the inning with an inside-the-park homerun off the center field wall followed later in the inning by a Castellanos sac fly to make it 13-7. TAMIU wouldn't go down without a fight as they plated four runs in the top of the ninth all with two outs highlighted by a Saenz three-run long ball down the left field lineÂ

Teddy Judkins claimed the win (1-1) for the Buffs, allowing no runs on one hit with no walks and a strikeout in his 1.1 innings of relief,
Kanon Welbourne earned his first save.Â

The Buffs hit the road next weekend to close out the regular season as they travel to South Texas for a four-game LSC series against the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas starting on Friday at Nolan Ryan Field.
