CANYON, Texas – The #3 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to eight games on Sunday afternoon as they picked up a pair of Lone Star Conference run-rule victories over the Sul Ross State Lobos in Alpine, Texas..

WT returns to Schaeffer Park on Friday as they host St. Edward's in an LSC doubleheader starting at 4:00 p.m. in Canyon.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 9, Sul Ross State 0 (5 Innings)
The Lady Buffs got on the board in the top of the first inning as
Abby Howell doubled to left field to score
Bella Holland followed by a
Trinity Kuntz sac fly to plate
Jordyn De Los Santos for the 2-0 lead. WT added to their advantage in the third on a Kuntz two-run single followed later in the frame by a
Brooke Janning RBI double for the 5-0 lead.

WT continued their hot start at the plate in the fifth on a
Cadence Colborn three-run long ball to center field before
Mya Chacon scored from third on a stolen base for the 9-0 lead.

That was more than enough run-support for Janning as the freshman lefty moved to 9-1 in the circle as she allowed no runs on just one hit with two walks and two strikeouts in her four innings of work followed by a scoreless fifth inning from
Reagan Sucher.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 14, Sul Ross State 2 (5 Innings)
Holland started the second game with a leadoff solo homerun to right field for the early 1-0 lead. The Lady Buffs added to their advantage in the third as
Heaven Moreno scored on a Lobo error to spark a 12-run frame highlighted by a De Los Santos three-run homer.

The Lobos scored their first runs of the day in the home half of the third on an RBI single by Elizabeth Clements followed by a Baylie Savage single to center that scored Samantha Bustos at 13-2. The Lady Buffs would add another run in the top of the fourth on a
Briley Daniels RBI single up the middle as Moreno scored at 14-2.

Laci Peskey moved to 9-2 in the circle, allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in her three innings of work with
Ava Sharp and
Tessia Guzman each tossing a frame of relief.
