CANYON, Texas – The #1 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M ran their win streak to 16 games while remaining unbeaten on the road with a pair of Lone Star Conference victories over the Midwestern State Mustangs in Wichita Fallas, Texas on Sunday afternoon.

The Lady Buffs return to Schaeffer Park next weekend as they continue league play against Eastern New Mexico on Saturday with a doubleheader set for 1:00 p.m. in Canyon.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 9, Midwestern State 3
The Mustangs got on the board in the home half of the first inning, taking advantage of a Lady Buff miscue for the 1-0 lead. WT responded in the top of the second inning as an MSU error scored
Cadence Colborn followed by a passed ball to plate another at 2-1.

Jordyn De Los Santos connected on her 14
th homer of the year to leadoff the third inning followed later in the frame by a Colborn RBI bunt single and a
Brooke Janning base hit to score Colborn. The Mustangs cut into the lead in the home half of the fifth on a Haylei Acosta sac fly followed by a wild pitch to score another at 5-3.

The Lady Buffs took advantage of another Mustang error in the top of the sixth with
Heaven Moreno scoring on an overthrow followed by an
Abby Howell two-run blast to left field for the 8-3 lead.Â

Janning claimed the win (13-1) for the Lady Buffs, allowing three earned runs on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 7, Midwestern State 1
The Lady Buffs started the scoring in the nightcap in the top of the second inning as Janning doubled down the left field line to score Colborn for the 1-0 lead.Â

WT added to their lead in the top of the fourth on a De Los Santos two-run double to the warning track in left field followed by a Howell RBI single up the middle, Colborn kept the inning going with an RBI double to score Howell followed by an
Emily Liskai two-run single for the 7-0 lead.

The Mustangs had their first base runner in the bottom of the fourth with a Paige Scanlin leadoff double followed later in the frame by a Tatum Waller sac fly to make it 7-1.Â

Laci Peskey picked up the win (13-2) for the Lady Buffs, allowing one earned run on three hits with one walk and six strikeouts in her six frames while
Ava Sharp closed out the game with a flawless inning in relief.
