CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes won both games of a Saturday Lone Star Conference doubleheader at Kokernot Field to clinch the weekend league series from the Sul Ross State Lobos by a combined score of 26-6.

The Buffs look to complete the sweep on Sunday afternoon as first pitch of the finale is set for Noon in Alpine.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 19, Sul Ross State 2
West Texas A&M quickly took control of the game with a strong start in the first inning.
Anthony Picciano led off with a single and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by
Jacob Police.
Luis Reyes and
Jonluke Hobdy added RBI singles, and
Will Franklin contributed with a two-run single, aided by a fielding error. The team ended the inning with a 5-1 lead.

In the second inning, Reyes extended the lead with a two-run homer to left field, bringing the score to 7-1. West Texas A&M continued its offensive push in the third. After Picciano was hit by a pitch and stole second,
Jake Alwine's two-run home run and Police's solo shot increased the score to 10-1.

The fifth inning saw another surge from the Buffs. With the bases loaded,
Daniel Castellanos was hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Reyes walked for another RBI, and Hobdy's single brought home a third. A wild pitch allowed another run, and Franklin's sacrifice fly concluded the five-run inning, making it 15-1.

The sixth inning added to the lead as Police's single and Castellanos's two-run double were key highlights. A groundout RBI by
Tristin Thomas capped the inning with the score at 19-1. Sul Ross State managed to add a run in the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer by Garcia. The game concluded with the Buffs securing a decisive 19-2 victory.

Cade Griffin claimed the win (6-0) for the Buffs, allowing one earned run on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts in his 6.0 innings of work.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 4, Sul Ross State 4
WT took an early lead in the first inning when
Anthony Picciano was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by
Jake Alwine, aided by a throwing error. This set the score at 1-0 at the end of the first inning.

Sul Ross State responded in the bottom of the second, as a two-run homer by Garrett put it ahead 2-1. The Buffs regained the lead in the third inning. Picciano scored again, this time on a two-RBI single by
Luis Reyes, making it 3-2.

In the fourth inning,
Will Franklin hit a solo home run. Alwine added to the lead with a sacrifice fly, and
Jacob Police's RBI single put the score at 6-2. Sul Ross State narrowed the gap in the bottom of the fourth with two unearned runs, bringing the score to 6-4.

West Texas A&M extended its lead in the sixth inning when Police doubled to drive in Alwine, setting the score at 7-4.

Bryan Raitz claimed the win (2-0) on the mound, allowing just one hit with no walks and eight strikeouts over the final 3.2 frames.
