CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's
Jonluke Hobdy went 6-for-6 at the plate and drove in five runs on Friday afternoon as the Buffaloes picked up a 25-11 Lone Star Conference victory over the Sul Ross State Lobos at Kokernot Field.

WT got on the board in the top of the first inning with a
Jacob Police two-run shot down the left field line for the early lead. Sul Ross State responded in the bottom of the frame as they took advantage of free passes followed by a Max Wiggins grand slam to left for the 4-2 lead.

The Buffs answered in the second as Hobdy would score on an error followed by an
Anthony Picciano sac fly that plated
Will Franklin,
Jake Alwine kept the inning alive with an RBI single to left for the 5-4 advantage. The Lobos tied the game in the bottom of the inning before the Buffs scored five runs in the top of the third highlighted by
Luis Reyes RBI triple and a Franklin two-run homerun.

WT would add to their lead with a single run in the fourth followed by another five-spot in the fifth with Hobdy connecting on a grand slam to center for the 16-5 lead. SRSU would cut into the advantage in the home half of the frame with three runs in the fifth followed by two more in the sixth. The teams would trade runs in the seventh before WT blew the game open with eight runs in the top of the eighth for the 25-11 victory.

Shea Lake picked up the win for the Buffs, allowing five earned runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts in his 4.2 innings of relief.

The Buffs and Lobos return to the field tomorrow with a doubleheader set for 2:00 p.m. in Alpine.
