Luis Palomo leads the 108-player field following the opening round of the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek Golf Club (Par 72 – 7,421 Yards) in Boulder City, Nevada.
The senior from Barcelona, Spain fired an opening round 67 (-5) to hold a one-stroke lead over Max Barile of Florida Southern. Palomo had seven birdies and two bogeys during the first 18 holes with five of the feathers coming on the front nine.
The Buffs led all teams with 19 birdies during the opening round as they shot a 294 (+6) to sit tied for seventh on the team leaderboard just five strokes out of the lead. Florida Southern shot a 289 (+1) on Sunday to hold a one-stroke lead over Colorado Mesa (290, +2).
