CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes struggled at the plate on Sunday afternoon as they dropped the Lone Star Conference series finale to the UT Dallas Comets, 9-3 at the UTD Baseball Complex in Richardson, Texas.

UTD opened the scoring in the first inning as Albert Garza walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Benavidez, followed by a solo home run by Trent McCown, putting UT Dallas ahead 2–0.

In the fifth inning, the Buffs responded.
Tristin Thomas singled, advanced on a hit by
Brock Bunker, and scored on a single by
Jacob Police, narrowing the gap to 3–1 after the Comets added a run in the fourth.

The eighth inning proved pivotal for UT Dallas as they extended their lead significantly. A series of strategic plays, including a two-RBI single by Korson Hastings and a three-RBI double by Alex Miller, culminated in six runs for the Comets, taking the score to 9–1.

In the ninth, West Texas AM showed resilience.
Luis Reyes doubled and scored on a groundout by Bunker, while
Jake Alwine crossed the plate due to a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, closing the score to 9–3.

Nick Yeager picked up the loss (0-1) for the Buffs, allowing three earned runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts in his 5.0 innings of work.

The Buffs hit the road again next weekend for a four-game LSC series with the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds beginning on Friday in Portales.
