CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes allowed five runs in the third and four runs in the sixth on Saturday afternoon as they dropped a Lone Star Conference contest to the UT Dallas Comets, 11-4 in Richardson, Texas.

WT began the scoring in the second inning when Jonluke Hobdy singled and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Luis Reyes and a single by Jake Alwine. Anthony Picciano grounded out to third base, allowing Hobdy to score, giving the visiting team a 1-0 lead. UT Dallas responded in their half of the inning, leveling the score at 1-1 with an RBI single by Nico Fernandez.

In the third inning, WT regained the lead. Jacob Police and Timothy Haynes both singled, setting up Daniel Castellanos, who grounded out to third but brought in Police to make it 2-1. However, UT Dallas surged ahead in their half of the inning with a two-run double by Trent McCown and a three-run double by Korson Hastings, putting them ahead 6-2 after three innings.

The Buffs narrowed the gap in the fourth inning. Jake Alwine and Anthony Picciano reached base, and Brock Bunker hit a single to shallow center field, driving in two runs. This brought the Buffs within two, trailing 6-4. UT Dallas was held scoreless in the bottom half of the fourth, maintaining the score.

In the sixth inning, UT Dallas extended their lead. After loading the bases, Hastings doubled to left field, clearing them and adding three more runs. Fernandez followed with an RBI single, and UT Dallas led 11-4 by the end of the inning.

Gavin Brummund picked up the loss as he allowed three earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout in his 2.0 innings of work.
