#7 Lady Buffs Roll Past Cameron on the Road, 75-59

CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M connected 13 times from behind the arc on Thursday night as they rolled past the Cameron Aggies in Lone Star Conference action, 75-59 at Aggie Gym in Lawton, Oklahoma.
 
WT opened the first quarter with strong defensive pressure, generating two steals and converting turnovers into points. Claire Graham's fast break 3-pointer at 7:28 initiated the scoring for the Lady Buffs, setting a competitive tone. Kyla Kane contributed significantly with a jump shot and a fast break 3-pointer, helping maintain momentum.
 
The quarter witnessed multiple lead changes, with Henley West tying the game at 9-9 with a jumper at 3:43. Despite Cameron's attempts to pull ahead, including a 3-pointer by Kloe Heidebrecht, the Lady Buffs closed the quarter effectively. Kenadee Winfrey's 3-pointer with 42 seconds left ensured the Lady Buffs held a narrow 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
 
West Texas A&M took control in the second quarter with a strong offensive performance. The team went on a 12–0 run, highlighted by Kane's two 3-pointers at 8:20 and 6:43, which extended their lead significantly. West contributed with consecutive jumpers from the paint, further expanding the margin.
 
Defensively, the Lady Buffs limited Cameron's scoring opportunities, allowing only two field goals in the quarter. Cameron's only score from the free-throw line came at 2:31. By the end of the quarter, the Lady Buffs led 38–19, firmly establishing their advantage.
 
West Texas A&M began the third quarter with a strong offensive push, highlighted by Graham's two consecutive 3-pointers within the first minute, setting the tone for the quarter. Kane and Randi Harding followed with successful shots from beyond the arc, contributing to a 15-point lead at the 6:55 mark.
 
Throughout the quarter, the Lady Buffs maintained their momentum with effective ball movement, recording six assists. Taylor Haggan's layup at 4:53 extended the lead further. Despite Cameron's attempts to close the gap, including a 3-pointer from Mercedes Mancha, the Lady Buffs ended the quarter leading 66–40, showcasing a balanced attack and solid defense.
 
The Lady Buffs began the fourth quarter with a slight momentum shift, as Chloe Callahan connected on a jumper following Brooklyn Scurry's assist at 8:16. However, Cameron responded quickly with a 3-pointer by Mancha at 7:53, maintaining their offensive pressure.
 
Despite a challenging shooting phase, the Lady Buffs managed to find success with Hollie Stalder scoring a layup with 6:25 remaining, followed by a 3-pointer from Presley Kane at 5:27, extending their lead. Cameron attempted to rally, but the visitor's defense held firm, highlighted by Winfrey's steal with 4:17 left on the clock.
 
The quarter concluded with the Lady Buffs maintaining their advantage despite a late surge from Cameron, who added points in the final minute.
 
Kane led West Texas A&M with 14 points and six rebounds, converting all four of her three-point attempts. Graham added 13 points and distributed five assists while making three of six shots from beyond the arc. West was the top scorer with 18 points and contributed a block. Winfrey recorded two steals and added three points.
 
The Lady Buffs close out their LSC road trip on Saturday afternoon as they take on the Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. at the Payne Athletic Center.
