#7 Lady Buffs Roll Past Oklahoma Christian on the Road, 82-67

CANYON, Texas – The #7 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M closed out their Oklahoma road trip with an 82-67 Lone Star Conference victory over the Oklahoma Christian Lady Eagles at the Payne Athletic Center in Edmond, Oklahoma.
 
WT started strongly in the first quarter, scoring early with a 3-pointer from Randi Harding assisted by Kyla Kane at 9:37. They maintained offensive pressure with Claire Graham contributing with another 3-pointer at 9:09. The Lady Buffs capitalized on turnovers, generating eight points off turnovers while also dominating the boards with an 11-8 rebound advantage.
 
Throughout the quarter, the Lady Buffs effectively utilized their outside shooting, with four successful 3-pointers, including one from Kane at 4:37, which helped to extend their lead. Defensively, they limited Oklahoma Christian's shooting opportunities, allowing only three field goals and executing two blocks. The quarter closed with the Lady Buffs leading 21-8.
 
The Lady Buffs began the second quarter by capitalizing on turnovers, with Kyla Kane's steal leading to a layup by Taytum Bell, setting the tone early. The team dominated in the paint, scoring 16 points and efficiently converting nine of 11 field goals, extending their lead significantly. Kenadee Winfrey and Henley West each contributed with key layups, while Harding's assist to West for a three-pointer at 6:26 further widened the margin.
 
The Lady Buffs' defensive effort was highlighted by Bell's block and subsequent defensive rebound, limiting Oklahoma Christian's scoring opportunities. Numerous turnovers by Oklahoma Christian were exploited, with Motschenbacher's steal leading to a layup at 2:09, solidifying their control. The quarter closed with Chloe Callahan converting two free throws, cementing a 45–23 lead.
 
The Lady Buffs began the third quarter by capitalizing on defensive opportunities, highlighted by Karley Motschenbacher's early steal. The team maintained pressure, with Taylor Haggan securing a layup and Kyla Kane hitting a 3-pointer, extending the lead significantly. Key assists from Harding and Winfrey facilitated scoring efforts, demonstrating effective ball movement.
 
Throughout the quarter, the Lady Buffs maintained a strong defensive stance, limiting Okla. Christian's scoring opportunities. The visitors ended the quarter with a strong offensive showing, including a late 3-pointer from Chloe Callahan, closing with a 61–36 lead.
 
The Lady Buffs maintained their lead throughout the fourth quarter by executing well in the paint and finding success from the bench. Harding contributed with an early layup and a free throw, while West added a layup and a tip-in to extend the scoring. Callahan and Hollie Stalder both connected from beyond the arc, adding to the visitor's tally. Despite Oklahoma Christian's efforts, including Taylor Jackson's three-pointer and Kenzie Willis' jumper, the Lady Buffs' efficiency in scoring and control of the pace allowed them to close the quarter maintaining their advantage.
 
Henley West led the team with 18 points, shooting 8 of 9 from the field, and added two blocks. Kane contributed 13 points, making all three of her 3-point attempts. Callahan tallied 11 points, converting all three of her shots from beyond the arc. Motschenbacher recorded eight steals and collected five rebounds.
 
The Lady Buffs return to the First United Bank Center on Tuesday night as they host the rival Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds with tipoff set for 5:30 p.m. in Canyon.
