CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffs picked up two more Lone Star Conference wins on Saturday afternoon to clinch the weekend series from the UT Permian Basin Falcons at Roden Field in Odessa, Texas.

The Buffs look to sweep the series as the finale is scheduled for a Noon first pitch at Roden Field on Sunday.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 3, UT Permian Basin 1
The Buffs took an early lead in the first inning when
Jake Alwine singled up the middle and advanced to third on a fielding error.
Jacob Police then drove Alwine home with a sacrifice fly, putting the Buffs ahead 1-0. In the third inning,
Anthony Picciano singled to shortstop and was brought home by
Jonluke Hobdy, who hit a two-run homer to left field for the 3-0 lead.

UT Permian Basin scored its only run in the home half of the seventh inning as Estrada reached on an error and later scored on a single by Bernal to make it 3-1.

Cade Griffin delivered a complete game performance for the Buffs, pitching seven innings and allowing only five hits with no earned runs while striking out four batters and walked none, showcasing control by throwing 71 strikes out of 98 pitches.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 8, UT Permian Basin 7
WT opened scoring in the second inning, capitalizing on errors by the Falcons.
Brock Bunker singled, followed by
Anthony Picciano's single which set up a scoring opportunity.
Jonluke Hobdy reached on an error, allowing Bunker to score.
Jake Alwine then delivered a two-RBI single, bringing home Picciano and Hobdy.
Daniel Castellanos added a sacrifice fly to score Alwine, giving the Buffs a 4-1 lead.

In the fourth inning, the Buffs extended their lead.
Jacob Police scored on a single by
Ronan Hella, with Hella and Castellanos later scoring on
Tristin Thomas' two-RBI single. An error by the left fielder allowed Picciano to drive in Thomas, pushing the lead to 8-3.

The fifth inning saw UTPB respond with four runs, aided by a West Texas A&M error and a wild pitch, narrowing the gap to 8-7. Neither team scored in the final two innings, and
Bryan Raitz closed out the game with a strikeout to secure the victory at 8-7.

Kanon Welbourne picked up the win (1-1) for the Buffs, allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits with a strikeout in his 1.2 innings of relief.
Bryan Raitz claimed his second save of the weekend, striking out four batters and allowing just one hit over the final 2.1 innings.
