Lady Buffs Sit Eighth After the Opening Day in Spring

CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs sit eighth on the team leaderboard following the opening two rounds of The Southern Invite hosted by Central Oklahoma at Cypresswood Golf Club (Par 72 – 6,058 Yards) in Spring, Texas.
 
WT registered 16 birdies along with an eagle thru the first 36 holes. Mia Hammerschmid leads the way with identical rounds of 75 for a 150 (+6) to sit tied for 12th overall, the freshman from Düsseldorf, Germany registered five birdies on the day with four of them coming in the second round as she also holds the second-best par-four scoring average (3.95) among the 80 competitors.
 
UT Tyler's Martha Laremark sits atop of the individual leaderboard with rounds of 71 and 72 for a 143 (-1) to hold a one-stroke lead over Lily Nelson of Henderson State and UTT teammate Lucy Kate Smith. The Patriots of UT Tyler shot rounds of 285 and 297 to hold an 11-stroke lead over Dallas Baptist (593, +17).
 
The Lady Buffs will be paired with St. Mary's, Missouri-St. Louis and Central Missouri during Tuesday's final round with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
