CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M opened their Lone Star Conference schedule in style on Saturday afternoon with a pair of run-rule victories over the rival Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds in Portales, New Mexico.

The Lady Buffs open up their home schedule on Friday as they battle the #14 Oklahoma Christian Eagles in an LSC doubleheader starting at 4:00 p.m. in Canyon.

Game 1 – West Texas A&M 10, Eastern New Mexico 2 (5 Innings)
In the first inning, the Lady Buffs took an early lead with three runs.
Bella Holland singled to left field and later scored on a walk.
Heaven Moreno then hit a single to right field, driving in two more runs for the early 3-0 lead.

The second inning saw the Lady Buffs extend their lead with a three-run homer by
Jordyn De Los Santos, bringing home Holland and
Avery Cannon. The Lady Buffs added two more runs in the third with a single by
Abby Howell, which brought in Cannon and
Trinity Kuntz. Eastern New Mexico managed to get on the board in their half of the inning with a two-run homer by Rodarte, but the Lady Buffs maintained an 8-2 lead.

After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, the Lady Buffs capped off their scoring with a two-run homer by Howell in the fifth inning.

Brooke Janning claimed the win in the circle, allowing two earned runs on five hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Game 2 – West Texas A&M 9, Eastern New Mexico 1 (5 Innings)
WT initiated the game with a strong start, scoring three runs in the first inning.
Bella Holland walked and advanced on a fielding error, setting up
Cadence Colborn's RBI single.
Emily Liskai later doubled, driving in two more runs, giving the Lady Buffs a 3-0 lead.

In the third inning, the Lady Buffs added to their lead. With
Jordyn De Los Santos on second base,
Brooke Janning reached on a fielding error, allowing De Los Santos to score for the 4-0 advantage.

During the fourth inning, the Lady Buffs capitalized on
Avery Cannon's walk and Holland's double, setting the stage for De Los Santos, who singled through the left side, driving in two runs at 6-0.

The Lady Buffs continued their offensive momentum in the fifth inning. Colborn walked and stole second, eventually scoring on
Melanie Baldwin's fielder's choice.
Trinity Kuntz and Cannon each contributed an RBI, extending the advantage to 9-0.

Eastern New Mexico managed to score one run in the bottom of the fifth, but it was not enough to overcome the Lady Buffs' commanding lead.

Laci Peskey picked up with win in the circle for the Lady Buffs, allowing no runs on just four hits with one walk and two strikeouts in her four innings of work.
