RICHARDSON, TEXAS – West Texas A&M Women's Soccer duo of Riley Sims and Charo Rodriguez Fortea were named to the All-Lone Star Conference (LSC) as announced by the conference Wednesday evening. Sims was a First Team selection and was also named Newcomer of the Year while Rodriguez Fortea was a Third Team selection.

Transferring over from Louisiana, Riley Sims made an instant impact for the Lady Buffs as she was named one of the teams two Captains. She started in all 19 games and led WT in a plethora of offensive categories including goals (eight), points (18), shots (40), shots on goal (22), and game-winning goals (three) in her 1360 minutes. The Harker Heights, Texas native was the key piece for West Texas A&M's offense as she was always a threat to score off crossing passes to the post. Her scoring came in bunches with two consecutive hat tricks against Angelo State and Midwestern State. She would be recognized as LSC Offensive Player of the Week and D2CIDA National Player of the Week on both instances after being the first player in the game-by-game era (2011+) to record back-to-back hat tricks for WT. As Sims became the focal point of opposing defenses, her presence consistently freed up scoring chances for her teammates. She is the first Lady Buff to earn First Team honors since Maria-Frances Serrant in 2022 who was also LSC Newcomer of the Year that season.

Another transfer for West Texas A&M, Charo Rodriguez Fortea constantly made her presence felt as one of the top midfielders in the conference. Rodriguez Fortea logged 1,340 minutes in her 17 starts and commanded the midfield with her fearless physicality. Defensively, the Buenos Aires product set the tone every night as a disruptor who stopped penetration down the field and intercepted passes. She would turn defense into offensive opportunity by taking those turnovers and flipping the field. On the offensive side, Rodriguez Fortea turned 23 shots and 12 shots on goal into five points from two goals and an assist. Her shots on goal were tied for the fourth highest mark on the team.

Sims and Rodriguez Fortea are the first All-Conference duo for West Texas A&M since the 2022 season where five Lady Buffs earned All-LSC Honors.

West Texas A&M will be back in action tomorrow as they take on UT Dallas in the Semifinals of the LSC Tournament. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
